This is it!

I am so freaking nervous. Race day is three days a way. A little less if you count in hours. I have no idea what I am wearing. I am not packed. My flight leaves later today. I can't find my favorite socks. I still need to download some music. Arghhh!!

This journey has been amazing. I feel blessed to be on it with so many great friends, and of course, my coach and partner in crime, my husband. We decided to make this year count and so far, so good. I don't know if I will succeed or not, but I have the fever!

My Right Foot

Got a walk in last night. Cranked it up and really moved. It was great. I wore Asics socks, suggested by my friend Edna as they have arch support. My right foot felt great. I was very happy. I did my walk too late though and quit after 35 minutes. My stomach was not happy. But I felt great afterward. And I have to give two thumbs up to my new Under Armour 1/4 zip. It is made for inbetween weather. I wore it with a Nike Dri fit shirt and it was fantastic. I never took it off, kept me warm and kept the sweat off. I want one for every day of the week now.

Hi, remember me?

Hi, remember me? I am the girl who is running, no, walking a half marathon in 2 months. Lord help me.

I haven't gotten a training session in this week. I walked earlier this week and felt so good afterward but with Christmas coming and holiday prep, I haven't made the time. It's back on the saddle going forward. I want to complete this race. I am trying to vision myself with a Mickey medal around my neck, crying tears of joy. Being picked up by the van for being slow is not on my agenda.

Well, it's Christmas Eve and I am sipping a cup of butter toffee coffee I made with my new Keurig machine. A big thank you to my in-laws for this wonderful machine. My hubby isn't as impressed but I am loving it!!! In a little while, I will get ready for church. I am reading at the 3pm service and don't know what I am going to wear! I don't really have any festive (meaning Christmas-like) clothes.

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas!

It's Like Riding a Bicycle

So I took some time off. I bought new inserts for my shoes and it did seem to help. I am using Superfeet Berry inserts. They added a lot of support that I was lacking. My left foot was completely happy. My right foot, well, not so much. There is no pleasing the right foot, I tell you.

Running tonight was like riding a bicycle. I was ready to puke and give up pretty early on. But I pushed through, despite a few tears. I felt like a rock star by the end and cranked up the speed on the treadmill for the last run. It was awesome. It totally renewed my resolve to cross that finish line in February.

Pillow, please

Wow, I am tired! I completed Week One of the Couch to 5K and moved on to Week 2. Um, yes, Week Two Day 1 was nothing short of a swift kick in the rear. I felt it in my feet. I started to get that feeling of panic. Why did I sign up to walk/jog/crawl 13.1 miles. Pardon my language but really, WTF was I thinking??? I finally tried to visualize myself running up to Cinderella's Castle and seeing all my friends waiting for me. It worked. Well, that and I also visualized the Carolina Hurricanes team waiting for me. I basically stare at their team poster and that of retired #17 Rod Brind'Amour holding up the Stanley Cup in 2006. They have become my motivation. I think I might even have to incorporate a #17 somehow into my clothing that day.

I am proud to say that I did it. I wanted to give up but I didn't. I think half of this battle is mental. And I don't give up that easy.

Now I would like a shower and my pillow. Because I am beat!

Here I am

Ok, so here I am and it is now November. UGH. I refuse to let anymore time go, especially since my friend Sonia is rocking. And we are doing this together. I want to be able to hold my head high, ykwim?

I am currently charging up my MP3 so I can do the first week of the Couch to 5k program. Sonia said it helped her complete a 10k and was especially good in terms of pacing. I need all the help I can get! I love Suzedawg's music program, complete with hip hop, Britney Spears and 90's boy bands. It makes me smile just thinking about it.

I plan on updating this blog every couple of days now that February isn't that far away. Plane tickets are purchased, hotel is booked and all I need now is a cute outfit.
